Lab planning / 5 min READ
A practical starting point for your textile testing lab
Begin with the decisions your laboratory needs to make. Then choose the equipment that will help you make them.
Start with materials and decisions
List the materials you receive, make or buy, and the decisions each test will support. Incoming inspection, product development and buyer acceptance can require different workflows. A clear use case is more useful than a long equipment list.
Build a test matrix
For each material, record the property you need to assess, the test method requested by your buyer, specimen preparation and expected sample volume. Ask the relevant standards body for the current method; this guide does not replace its instructions.
Plan the whole workflow
Allow space for receipt, conditioning, cutting, testing, storage and records. Ask equipment suppliers about utilities, clearances, installation, training and maintenance before you commit to a layout.
Write a better request for quotation
Share material descriptions, target methods, sample volumes, available utilities and delivery destination. Ask for a written configuration, exclusions, accessories, lead time and service terms. Compare quotations on the same scope rather than a headline price.
General purchasing guidance only. Refer to the current official test method and verified equipment documentation for technical decisions.
